After receiving the award for "Best Design" in the creative marathon Inspirathon'23 by Thompson Madrid, Daniel Alcolea and Alonso Santamaría, students of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, have been able to capture an adaptation of their work on a mural in the central Thompson Madrid hotel.

Under the name "Gatos en la Terraza", the project consists of six illustrations that represent the most characteristic aspects of Madrid: its festive atmosphere, the richness of its gastronomy, the city's architecture, its deep-rooted traditions, its art and culture and, finally, its symbolism. Each one of these illustrations has been assigned to one of the six suites located on the north façade of the hotel's sixth floor.

The project, in turn, draws on several cultural and artistic references linked to Madrid, in keeping with the hotel's motto "Con la cultura por montera" (With culture in mind), among which stand out Picasso's iconic Guernica or the work of the painter Juan Gris.

The students' work will also form part of the Art Tour that the Hotel Thompson Madrid offers its guests two days a week, featuring works by artists such as Andrea Torres or Pils Ferrer; a tour of different rooms in the hotel, in which the importance of art and culture for the brand is discussed.
