BIAAF, the International Fashion Design competition for young people in which designers from more than 120 countries participate, has announced the 30 finalists of its new edition, including Hugo Pena, a student of the Degree in Fashion Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology.
His project, "Icarus", aims to challenge the physical limits in terms of material and design; in it, texture plays a fundamental role in the appearance, behaviour and personality of the fabric. For their part, the textiles used in the designs were found in different traces, to be ripped, torn, shredded and sewn again.
The main inspiration for this collection is the work of shareholder Chris Burden, called "Icarus", in which he uses his body juxtaposed against other hostile elements creating a tension between the fragility of the human body and the brutality of fire.
The international jury will choose the winners in each category from among the 30 finalists in June.
