Her professional career has been primarily in media groups belonging to American multinationals, where she served as General Manager of The History Channel Iberia for 10 years. Prior to that, she led NBC Universal Iberia and Showtime Networks. She has worked across nearly all areas of television, film, and advertising. In her role as General Manager of these companies, she focused on diversification, internationalization, audience growth, and achieving top international awards in creativity and production. She reported directly to the global board for 15 of more than 20 years, serving as the highest-ranking representative for Spain and Portugal for these companies. After the sale of The History Channel, she decided to embark on a new path by creating the Sylema brand, dedicated to independent consulting and content creation, in both traditional formats and branded content, integrating new technologies.
Carolina holds a degree in Social Communication from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas and a cum laude PhD in Information Sciences from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She earned a Master’s in Media Business Management at IE, followed by an Advanced Management Program (AMP) at INSEAD, Fontainebleau campus. She was awarded a scholarship by the Israeli government for the Innovation 360 Program, and completed both the Board Members Program at ESADE and the “Sustainability: Environment, Economy, and Society” program at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
She is currently CEO of Sylema, a board member of various foundations, an independent advisor, professor, mentor, and writer. She has founded several brands and is an active advocate for civil and women’s rights.
