UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, reinforces its position as a pioneering institution with the official inauguration of its new International Campus of Technology, Innovation and Applied Sciences, located at Calle Alcalá 506 in Madrid.

The inauguration ceremony, which was attended by numerous institutional and academic authorities and representatives of the business and technology sectors, was presided over by the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, who stressed during his speech the strategic importance of this space as a driver of talent and knowledge transfer for the capital.

As José Luis Martínez-Almeida pointed out: "This new Campus brings together innovation, academic excellence and talent. This commitment to 7,000 square metres will benefit the future of Madrid society and the people of Madrid.

Because regardless of socio-economic circumstances, whether we are born in the north, south, east or west, we need the necessary opportunities to progress and prosper as a society. The increasingly important social lift must be preserved as an essential element of progress, and that means having the best educational opportunities, marked by excellence. That is why I am so proud of UDIT's commitment to Madrid, and to have an institution that makes excellence one of its hallmarks".

With more than 7,000 square metres of state-of-the-art facilities, this campus was created with the aim of positioning UDIT as a unique ecosystem in technological and STEM training, with a wide range of training in technology.

The rector of UDIT, Juan Cayón Peña, highlighted during his speech at the event:"Today we are not only inaugurating a new campus: we are inaugurating a new way of understanding technological training in the 21st century. UDIT enters a new stage reinforcing its role as a bridge between knowledge and practical innovation, taking a step forward to train the professionals that companies need. We do so from the conviction that technical excellence must be accompanied by ethical criteria and humanistic thinking".

The new building joins the consolidated spaces of Alfonso XIII and Colombia 44, configuring a university articulated in two strategic areas: the International Campus of Design and Creative Industries and the International Campus of Technology, Innovation and Applied Sciences.

The UDIT Protospace is one of the central axes of the new campus. A leading laboratory of 1,500 m², it is a unique space in the Madrid university ecosystem and has been conceived to offer a learning and creative environment in which students can devise, prototype and validate real technological solutions, in close connection with companies and research centres. To this end, it has state-of-the-art equipment: robotic arms, 3D printers, laser cutters, IoT devices and virtual and augmented reality systems.

In addition to this space, the Innovation Hub acts as a meeting point for university and professional talent. Designed to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, it fosters students' entrepreneurial ideas, connecting them with companies, technology clusters and research centres throughout Spain. It also allows external professionals to collaborate on projects co-developed with UDIT.

Completing this ecosystem, UDIT's Materioteca, which houses an extensive collection of more than 7,000 materials used in sectors such as design, engineering and architecture, aims to promote creativity by connecting university education with the most advanced trends in industry.

Here, the future is learned by doing.
