Graduated in 2023 from the Degree in Fashion Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, alumni Antonio del Canto will have the opportunity to present his new collection "Kiss Me At The Gate" at the EGO catwalk, held as part of the official calendar of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid.

His namesake brand, Antonio del Canto, is a Spanish fashion brand that was born with the vision of creating a more artistic and artisanal approach to fashion, establishing very clear values and know-how, which lead the brand to create collections with a romantic and dark aesthetic.

The brand's approach follows features that derive in a universe that mixes fabrics such as taffeta and satin with more conventional ones such as twill and linen, creating an atmosphere in which influences from past times converge with new shapes and modern silhouettes.

The art of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the music of the seventies, the cinema of the golden age, literature and architecture, incorporate new ways of production to the brand for the creation of a marked and defined aesthetic.

19th century novels as the main inspiration

The collection entitled "Kiss Me At The Gate", is based on Leo Tolstoy's novel "Anna Karenina", which tells the tragic love story between Anna Karenina and Count Vronsky, both belonging to the Russian high society of 1877.

The designs take inspiration from theatre, ballet, novels and cinema to realise the aesthetics of the collection. Details such as volumes, bows, skirts and silhouettes are reminiscent of the universe surrounding this play. The idea of the collection is to create shapes that expand beyond conventional figures and give a new facet to the human anatomy, as well as making garments with fabrics that bring new concepts and create new artistic visions.
