Lucía Borrego, student of the Degree in Fashion Design, exhibits her creations at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

The undulating forms of the twists and turns of the Ballerina Tilting (1877 - 1879) and the vibration of the blue tones in movement are the triggers for the design by Lucía Borrego, a student of the UDIT Degree in Fashion Design.

The undulating forms of the swirling turns of the Ballerina Tilting (1877 - 1879) and the vibration of the blue tones in movement are the triggers for the design by Lucía Borrego, a student of the Degree in Fashion Design at UDIT, University of Design and Technology, who has had the opportunity to exhibit her creativity in the showcase of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

This design is the result of the unique collaboration developed between the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza and UDIT, Universidad de Diseño y Tecnología and was presented during the 78th edition of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid catwalk, where students interpreted different impressionist works from the museum's permanent collection.

Technical details of the design

To generate the print, hand-dyed on the top layer made of organza, Lucía was inspired by the pastel technique, which in the painting represents the fleetingness of the action from a fast and vigorous perspective.

The puffy volume of the dress is drawn from the rounded shapes projected in the air by the dancers' turns, finishing off the waist of the design with a bow that winks at the Russian tutus depicted in the work.
Lo Fugaz speaks of evanescent memory, the use of pure colour or rhythm through light and brushstrokes or the fleetingness of the moment and, thanks to this work, the pupils have explored their creative identity through different pictorial works, transferring their essence to the pieces they have created and which form part of the collection.
