Daniel Alcolea, student of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, has been selected, thanks to his project Paramera, as a finalist in the Young Ones Student Awards, in the categories of Typography and Type Family Design.

Paramera is a variable typeface designed with the aim of restoring the visual identity of Molina de Aragón, the least populated region in Europe. Inspired by the gothic calligraphy of its 1272 sign, it offers a contemporary reinterpretation rooted in local heritage.

This project, with important significance for Daniel Alcolea, whose family originates from Molina de Aragón, supports cultural preservation and economic revitalisation through public use, commercialisation and free distribution. It is a call to protect forgotten identities and rethink the future of depopulated rural areas across Europe.

The winners of the Young Ones Student Awards 2025 will be announced on Monday 12 May at a ceremony at Sony Hall in New York.
