Award-winning project

Parfums Christian Dior rewards the talent of students Álvaro Navarrete, Catalina de la Guardia and Sofía Ruiz

As a result of the collaboration between Parfums Christian Dior and UDIT, the prestigious firm has chosen the proposal of Álvaro Navarrete and Catalina de la Guardia, students of the Degree in Product Design and Development at UDIT, as a gift for those attending its latest convention. It has also selected the project 'Tramas', by Sofía Ruiz, a student of the same degree, for the creation of sets for the convention's photbooth.

As a result of the collaboration between Parfums Christian Dior and UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, the prestigious firm has chosen the proposal of Álvaro Navarrete and Catalina de la Guardia, students of the Degree in Design and Product Development at UDIT, as a gift for those attending its latest convention. It has also selected the project 'Tramas', by Sofía Ruiz, a student of the same degree, for the creation of sets for the convention's photbooth.

Both projects have their origins in a sustainability briefing that Parfums Christian Dior gave to the students of the aforementioned degree.

Each tote bag, a unique piece

On the one hand, the brand posed the challenge of designing a corporate gift with available recycled materials, to which Álvaro Navarrete and Catalina de la Guardia responded by designing a tote bag made from the brand's advertising canvas.

This tote bag, which has been finalised with the help of Parfums Christian Dior Iberia and the association Proyectos Extraordinarios, whose workshop works with women at risk of exclusion and is in charge of production, has a very geometric and marked shape.

The aim of the students was, at all times, to create a product that would convey the values of Parfums Christian Dior, without escaping from the nature of the product itself. Thus, the entire bag was constructed respecting the proportions of the golden section, thus obtaining a very powerful visual balance.

Finally, handles made from recycled safety belts, soft to the touch and resistant, were incorporated, as well as a series of labels, which briefly tell the story of the project and in which Álvaro and Catalina have applied a careful aesthetic that speaks of design and detail.

An environmentally friendly set

Sofía Ruiz Brenlla, also a student of the Degree in Product Design and Development, is developing, for her part, the proposal 'Tramas'.

The young designer has worked on the creation of a set of side decorations, totally sustainable and environmentally friendly, for the photobooth of a Parfums Christian Dior event.

To do so, she used paper pulp extruded by means of a robotic arm, following patterns designed by herself that reflect the essence of the house.

A project that stands out for its innovation in design, sustainability and technology and that has won over Parfums Christian Dior.
