Belén Sánchez, alumni of the Degree in Interior Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, has received the National Interior Design Award, within the framework of Mallorca Design Day 2025, for her proposal Redes y Raíces (Networks and Roots).
This work presents an innovative concept to address the loss of quality in human relationships and the growing social disconnection of today. Inspired by the art of weaving, Redes y Raíces seeks to give new meaning to social networking by transforming it into a tangible experience, fusing it with one of the most human and sociable activities: sharing a meal.
Conceived as a café, the design of this space is inspired by traditional looms, where threads are interwoven to form unique patterns and textures.
This space invites visitors to immerse themselves in this ancient practice, offering an immersive experience in which they enter a wooden structure interwoven with ropes, an environment in which they can rediscover the pleasure of connecting with others.
The Madrid-born designer received the award from Bernat Blanes, CEO of Worldlight, and Cecilia Sagrera, director of Aquaquae, at an exciting gala event held at the Fàbrica Ramis, located in Inca.
Meeting of emerging designers in different disciplines
Consolidated as the meeting point for emerging designers from different disciplines, such as Fashion, Interior Design or Landscape Architecture, this is a biennial event that each edition proposes a specific theme and takes on an environmental commitment, always aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
On this occasion, Mallorca Design Day has focused on what they have called Craft Intelligence, combining Artificial Intelligence with craftsmanship.
