In a new success for the students of UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, Daniel Berrueco, final year student of the Degree in Fashion Design and founder of the firm Maze Archive, has presented his latest collection at the prestigious Brooklyn Fashion Week during his stay at the Pratt Institute in New York.

Thanks to the collaboration agreement between the two universities, the student had the opportunity to meet one of the directors of the catwalk, who invited him to present a fashion collection for his brand at the second edition of this event, organised by BK Style Foundation.

His collection, made up of four looks, is a visual and emotional manifestation of the facets of the different personalities that coexist in each person's mind, inspired mainly by abstract expressionism and the ideas explored in the essay "The encounter with the shadow" by Carl Gustav Jung.

The student himself took part in the catwalk wearing a fifth look, consisting of a large belt or Obi. This accessory served as the finishing touch to the performance, in which the five mannequins embraced each other, symbolising the integration of all personalities and the search for fulfilment by accepting and embracing the totality of oneself.

Each piece in the collection has been designed to represent a specific facet of Daniel, using different colours and silhouettes but with a common thread: a deep interest and care for textile manipulations, especially in the field of dyeing with natural dyes, as well as the use of oversized silhouettes.

A genderless collection that is part of the catwalk's motto "Fashion Pronouns #Femmas": a journey through the world of fashion that celebrated design free of gender identity restrictions.

More student successes

In the last edition of the BIAAF 2022, the International Fashion Design competition for young designers from over 120 countries, Daniel was one of the 30 finalists with "Kintsukuroi", a collaborative project that goes beyond fashion and brings together pieces of cotton fabric that intrinsically tell stories of past lives building new futures.
