Manuel Sirgo, Director of the Degree in Animation at UDIT, directs the animation of the documentary film 'Benito Pérez Buñuel'.
As part of the events celebrating the 180th anniversary of the birth of Benito Pérez Galdós, the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid hosted a screening of the documentary film 'Benito Pérez Buñuel', directed by filmmaker Luis Roca and whose animation was directed by Manuel Sirgo, Director of the Degree in Animation at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology.
Benito Pérez Buñuel' vindicates the validity of the figure of the great Spanish creators Benito Pérez Galdós and Luis Buñuel and recounts the connections between them, through a hybrid narrative between classic documentary, animated film and non-fiction.
The feature film also features the participation of Manuel Sirgo, Director of the Degree in Animation at UDIT, as director of animation and production of the film, as well as some of the students and alumni of the Degree itself, such as María Eugenia Rocío, Tamara Álvarez, Raúl García, Pablo García Vallejo, Estela Rodríguez Albores and Patricia Ferrer Pérez, who have had the opportunity to apply everything they have learnt together with the teacher.
Special screening at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid
The Culture Department of the Government of the Canary Islands organised a special screening of the feature-length documentary 'Benito Pérez Buñuel' at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, which was attended by Yolanda Díaz, Vice-President of the Government, who was able to enjoy the documentary and delve into the lives of its main characters.
After touring cinemas in different Spanish cities throughout 2023, the feature film will be released on television on 10 May.
