Alejandro Carrasco Hidalgo

Alejandro Carrasco Hidalgo is an architect, researcher, and educator. He serves as Program Director of the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, where he leads academic strategy, teaches, and coordinates initiatives at the intersection of design, architecture, and contemporary culture.

He holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Alcalá (UAH) and completed a Master’s in Architectural History at The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (UCL). His research explores the relationships between architecture, territory, technology, and power, with a particular focus on the processes of modernization, resource extraction, and territorial transformation throughout the twentieth century.

He has undertaken research fellowships at The Bartlett and the University of Basel, and has presented his work at leading academic conferences and institutions in Spain and abroad. As a guest lecturer and design critic, he has contributed to institutions including Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP), Syracuse University, the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM), and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). His research and design work have been published in books and internationally recognized journals and platforms such as Drawing Matter, Metalocus, Architectural Record, and Expresión Gráfica Arquitectónica (EGA).

Alongside his academic career, he is co-founder of Estudio Latente, an architecture and design practice dedicated to spatial design, research, and innovation. In 2025, the studio was awarded First Prize at the TAC! Festival, organized by the Spanish Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda and the Fundación Arquia, for De Roca Madre, an installation built in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

He combines professional practice and research with teaching, academic leadership, and the development of initiatives that connect the university with cultural institutions, industry partners, and international networks.
