Dr Fernando Hernández Barral

Fernando Hernández Barral, who holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid, has a solid track record as a screenwriter and audiovisual producer. Specialising in the development of stories based on real events, he became involved in audiovisual production from a very young age and, whilst still a student, directed and wrote the short films *Sinfonía* ( 2000), shot in New York and screened at the Madrid Experimental Film Festival, and *Fábrica de Silencio* (2001), which premiered at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with some of Spain’s leading production companies, including Morena Films, Tornasol, Vaca Films and Nadie es Perfecto. In 2010, he won the Silver Award at the San Diego Film Festival for the comedy 10 pelis, a film he wrote and produced.

Among his most recent works is the screenplay for *Matusalén* ( 2023), directed by David Galán and starring Antonio Resines and Julián López, which had its international premiere at the Monterrey International Film Festival. He has also served as associate producer on the documentary *Los negros* (2022), directed by Antonio Palacios, a production which received two nominations at the Carmen Awards.
