On the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, you’ll have the opportunity to undertake various projects. Take, for example, María Saiz, an alumna of UDIT’s Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, who tells us about her experience working on her final-year project, ‘Slowmood’.

You will learn about and work on all the areas that make up the fashion industry: design, cutting, garment construction, pattern-making, grading, styling, fabrics and photography.

During the first year of the degree programme, you will acquire an artistic and technical foundation that will enable you to bring your ideas to life and express them effectively. You will explore creative research, the concept of identity, colours and textures, shape and volume, as well as the study of work processes – from the initial inspiration for a collection through to its mass production in an industrial setting.

During the second year, you will learn the digital tools for presenting fashion projects and deepen your knowledge of pattern-making, technology and garment construction.

In the third year, you will immerse yourself in the creation of your own collection, culminating in a fashion show as part of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week calendar. You will learn about Shima Seiki technology—which is in high demand within the industry—as well as marketing and fashion photography, and you will have the opportunity to showcase your talent through work placements with companies.

The final year will be the last step towards entering the job market, as you create and develop your personal brand, whilst acquiring the personal and corporate communication skills necessary for its success.

All our degree programmes start from scratch, so it is not necessary to have completed a specific type of A-level.

It is true that, given the nature of our degree programmes, it is usually recommended that you have studied an arts or science and technology A-level programme.

The purpose of the entrance exam is to gain a better understanding of a prospective student’s profile, precisely so that we can offer you personalised support and, if necessary, help you strengthen any existing skills, such as artistic drawing.

Under no circumstances should you worry about your previous education when it comes to getting the most out of our degree programmes.

If you wish to study the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, you can do so without having completed a specific A-level programme; you must meet the entry requirements set out in Article 3 of Royal Decree 412/2014, and you do not need to have any prior knowledge of areas such as pattern-making, cutting, dressmaking or fabrics… All our degree courses start from scratch, so it is not necessary to have completed a specific type of A-level that trains you in these areas.

Although it is true that, given the nature of the degree, an arts-focused A-level programme is recommended, you need not worry about your prior education when making the most of our degree programmes.

What sort of sixth-form qualification do you need to study Fashion Design?

The Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design at UDIT lasts four years. During this time, you will acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to become a fashion design professional.

The average salary for a fashion designer can vary depending on experience, location and the type of company. However, in Spain, the average salary for a fashion designer is usually around 30,000 to 33,000 euros a year. With experience and a reputation, this can increase significantly.

UDIT does not require a minimum mark for entry to its degree programmes. However, due to the specialised nature of these programmes, prospective students will be required to sit specific admission tests set by the university.

Yes, all the degree programmes taught at UDIT are officially recognised and internationally accredited.

You should be wary of other qualifications advertised on the market as ‘official degrees’ which are not, in fact, official. To check whether a degree is officially recognised, you should consult the RUCT (Register of Universities, Centres and Qualifications) website, an official body under the Ministry of Universities that oversees academic regulation and the official recognition of university qualifications.

In the 2027–2028 academic year, the first-year fee for the Bachelor in Fashion Design 100% in English at UDIT is €14,040 for place reservation and tuition for 60 ECTS credits. This figure comprises a €2,100 place reservation fee, which secures a place on the chosen programme, and €11,940 in tuition fees, at €199 per credit. New students also pay a one-off €500 fee to open a student file, payable only in the first year. Enrolment includes student insurance.

Tuition fees can be paid in a single instalment —between 1 and 5 September, with a 3% discount— or, for students from Europe, Latin America and Brazil, in ten monthly instalments from September to June, due on the 5th of each month. Students from other regions must pay the full amount in July, before the start of the academic year; from the second year onwards, they may also use the monthly payment plan. To reduce the cost, students can consult the current calls for UDIT’s Academic Excellence, High Academic Achievement, Young Talents and Trébol Study Support scholarships and grants, family allowances, company scholarships available for certain degrees, and any applicable government-funded scholarships. Eligibility and award amounts depend on the terms of the current call for applications.

If you come from the Spanish education system, to study this degree at UDIT you must meet at least one of the following requirements:

• You must have passed the University Entrance Examination (EVAU) with a pass mark.
• Students who have completed a Higher Level Vocational Training course or FP II.
• Students entering the programme having completed a Spanish university degree.
• Students entering via the University Entrance Examination for those aged 25 and over, for those aged 40 and over, and for those aged 45 and over.

Students from education systems outside Spain:

• Students from pre-university education systems in European Union Member States and countries with a reciprocity agreement.
• Students holding the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
• Students from foreign pre-university education systems.
• Students with foreign university qualifications who gain admission through the recognition of their qualifications.
• Students with completed or uncompleted official foreign university studies who gain admission through official recognition.
