Ana Sabugo Sierra holds a PhD in Architecture (2024) and a Master’s degree in Advanced Architectural Projects (2018) from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM). From 2017 to 2023, she worked as a Lecturer in Professor Iñaki Ábalos’s Architectural Projects Workshop. In 2019, she taught on the Master’s in Architectural Communication (UPM-UCM). In 2020, she was awarded a fellowship as a Visiting Postgraduate Researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

In 2016, together with Victor Cano, José Cullen and José M. de Andrés, she founded the Arquitectura Subalterna collective, which sought to provoke, activate and reflect on the spatial needs and aesthetic forms required by the bodies that inhabit space. Her work focused on the narratives of subaltern groups who do not identify with any specific building or urban lifestyle. His research projects have been recognised at international events such as the Oslo Architecture Triennale 2016, the Venice Biennale 2016 and 2018, Future Architecture 2017 and the 20th Chilean Architecture Biennale in 2017.

He has won several prizes in international architecture competitions, including three editions of the EUROPAN competition for young European architects and ‘PIENSASOL’, the competition for the regeneration of Madrid’s Puerta del Sol. Her final project, ‘Todo sobre mi patio’, formed part of a series of lectures at the AA Summer School 2015 (Unit 6: Rafael Beneytez + Victor Cano).

In her professional practice, she is co-founder and co-director, alongside José M. de Andrés de Sabugo, of Sabugo de Andrés Arquitectos, a Madrid-based architectural practice.
