Presentation

PhD from the University of Buenos Aires (Engineering), MSc in Physics and a degree in Engineering Physics from the National University of Colombia. He is currently the Principal Investigator (PI) of the DESIRe research group at UDIT University in Madrid. His research and academic career has focused on the synthesis and characterisation of nanostructured systems, nanomedicine (magnetohyperthermia) and sustainable materials science, with a particular interest in eco-design, the analysis of biocomposites and the recovery of agro-industrial waste through advanced instrumentation and computational modelling. With an outstanding portfolio of articles published in high-impact, internationally indexed scientific journals, his work combines applied physics and engineering to promote closed-loop innovation and biodesign. With a solid track record in international mobility and scientific cooperation, he has completed two postdoctoral research fellowships: one at the Institute of Polymer Technology and Nanotechnology (ITPN; CONICET-UBA) in Argentina and another at the Autonomous University of Manizales (UAM) in Colombia, where he also served as a full-time lecturer and researcher. Furthermore, he has driven knowledge transfer through his leadership and the development of the spin-off NanotechUAM. In the field of scientific management, he has led and co-ordinated large-scale competitively funded projects, including the strategic macro-project BIOFÁBRICAS and the implementation of the Caldas Centre for Technological Development (CDT). He has extensive experience in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, having supervised numerous research projects, doctoral theses currently in progress, and a large number of final-year and master’s dissertations, thereby fostering the training of new generations in advanced engineering.
