Dr. Javier Chavarría

Madrid-born artist (1966), with a PhD in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. He combines his artistic practice with teaching, working as a lecturer in drawing, design and scenography at various public and private universities. Since 1993, he has regularly given lectures on the History of Contemporary Art and has published several works on subjects related to contemporary art and scenography, including his book Artistas de lo inmaterial, published by Nerea as part of the Arte Hoy collection. His career as a theatre scenographer has included more than forty productions over the past twenty years, as well as art direction for several short and feature films. As a visual artist, he has taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Spain and abroad.
