Laura is an architect and acoustic designer, and the founder of SoundScape Studio in Madrid. She is pursuing an international design career, seeking to blend architecture, acoustics, sustainability and research.
With international experience in Spain, Belgium, Canada and the United Kingdom, she combined her degree in Architecture with musical training at the conservatoire to develop both her creative and technical skills. After completing her degree in Architecture at the Escuela Politécnica Superior of the Universidad San Pablo CEU in Madrid – EPS USP CEU – and undertaking an architecture placement in Madrid (Spain), she worked as a junior architect in Vancouver (Canada) in the fields of restoration and sustainability at the firm Perkins + Will.
When she discovered her interest in acoustic design in 2015, she moved to London (United Kingdom) to complete her studies with a Master’s (MSc) in Environmental and Architectural Acoustics at London South Bank University (LSBU), where she wrote her final Master’s thesis ‘A sustainable alternative acoustic product design to green walls’, with the aim of conducting leading-edge research into design using recyclable and sustainable materials as a bridge between different disciplines. In 2016, she began her career in acoustic design at BDP’s Environmental Design Studio (London office), collaborating on acoustic design strategies and participating in international projects such as the new AstraZeneca Research and Development Centre in Cambridge (Herzog & De Meuron).
She is currently the founder of Soundscape Studio, an international studio specialising in sustainable architecture, acoustic design and research, and is undertaking a PhD in Sustainability and Circularity at the European University of Madrid.
A member of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA) and registered with the ARB in the UK, as well as a member of the Spanish Acoustics Society (SEA) and a member of the COAM in Spain, she also continues her academic and research work at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, as a Main Lecturer/Head of the Acoustic Design Programme for fourth-year architecture students and as an architectural design tutor and final-year project jury member for third- and fifth-year students for the past 10 years.
