Sofia Bonilla Casado

Sofía Bonilla works in the field of spatial design and biomaterials research. After completing a Master’s degree in Spatial Design at Elisava, she has focused her career on regenerative design and material experimentation. She has undertaken a research residency at the Basque Biodesign Centre, where she is investigating the potential of mycelium as a material for design. Some of her work has been showcased in exhibitions and developed in collaboration with various institutions and companies. She is currently studying for a Master’s in Product Design at the University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT). Her main areas of interest centre on ‘myco-design’, exploring the potential of mycelium in spatial design, a line of research she hopes to develop further in her future doctoral research.
